Delta Celebrates 55th Anniversary with Vision of “Forward Together” and Invites International Energy Expert to Analyze AI’s New Energy Landscape

2026-03-06

Recently, Delta jointly hosted a forward-looking forum titled “A New Energy Landscape from Buildings to AI” with Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability’s Precourt Institute for Energy. The year 2026 marks Delta’s 55th anniversary, with a series of activities centered around the theme “Forward Together.” The inaugural forum specially invited international energy efficiency expert Dr. Amory Lovins, Co-founder and Honorary Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), to deliver a keynote speech sharing real-world examples of Integrative Design. Through holistic, systemic thinking, energy efficiency can be dramatically improved across buildings, factories, data centers, and other facilities.

Mr. Bruce Cheng, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Delta, remarked, “Dr. Lovins has been an important inspiration in Delta’s sustainability journey. More than two decades ago, his book Natural Capitalism emphasized the energy-saving potential of green buildings. After reading it, I led my team to study various energy-efficient green buildings in Thailand and Germany at the time, gaining a deep understanding of the environmental and energy-saving benefits of green buildings. As a result, Delta began comprehensively promoting green buildings in 2006, and to date has accumulated 36 such buildings worldwide, turning our ideals into action. After many years apart, I am honored to once again invite Dr. Lovins to Taiwan to share his insights, in the hope of inspiring more enterprises and driving real change.”

Dr. Amory Lovins noted that the world is rapidly shifting from fossil fuel-driven to electricity-driven systems, from centralized to distributed energy, and, crucially, achieving significant gains in energy efficiency. From the Neolithic era to 1820, global energy efficiency roughly doubled; it then tripled again. Now, by adding Integrative Design to traditional approaches — optimizing buildings, vehicles, and factories from a whole-system perspective — we can further increase global energy efficiency sixfold, delivering enormous benefits. Hundreds of real-world cases have already demonstrated the value of this approach for societal development and resilience.

Dr. Amory Lovins shares how Integrative Design can dramatically improve energy efficiency.

Mr. Ping Cheng, Chairman and CEO of Delta, stated, “Delta’s corporate mission is ‘To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow.’ Our commitment to improving energy efficiency is also reflected in our business growth. As Dr. Lovins has long advocated, corporate development can balance profitability with environmental sustainability. Since Delta’s carbon emissions peaked in 2017, they have decreased year by year starting in 2018, and our revenue has continued to grow while decoupling from carbon emissions. We are also accelerating our decarbonization goals through measures such as implementing an internal carbon fee mechanism. With our innovative technologies, we provide energy-efficient solutions for data centers, microgrids, and other applications in the AI era, working steadily with industry partners to move forward together toward a sustainable and shared future.”

During the forum, Dr. Lovins joined Mr. Bruce Cheng (Delta Founder and Honorary Chairman), Mr. Ping Cheng (Chairman and CEO), and Mr. Yancey Hai (Director) in a panel discussion to brainstorm ideas, ranging from green building practices to data center energy efficiency improvements, and to explore sustainable solutions for global energy transformation in the AI era, together with industry and academic partners.

Dr. Amory Lovins is a renowned energy visionary, Co-founder and Honorary Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). He has advised large corporations and governments in more than 70 countries. For over 50 years, his cutting-edge thinking on energy efficiency and renewable energy has profoundly influenced public discourse on energy issues.
